Abstract

본 발명은 양성 유전 이방성을 갖고, 전극이 장착된 2개의 기판과 정렬된 필름간의 비틀림 각도가 약 90°이고, 상기 기판간의 간격 d와 광학이방성 △n의 곱 d·△n이 0.15 내지 0.70μm인 네마틱 액정을 함유하는 TN 쎌에 관한 것이다. 상기 쎌은, 회색조능을 개선시키기 위해서 액정이 도핑 성분을 함유하여, 기판간의 간격 d와 액정의 피치길이 p의 비간섭 지수에 대해 0.1≤d/p≤0.5의 범위를 가짐을 특징으로 한다.

개선된 회색조를 나타내는 티엔(TN) 쎌(TN CELL WITH IMPROVED GREY-SHADE REPRESENTATION)

제1도는 다양한 시각 θ에 대한 적용 전압의 함수로서 상기 쎌의 상대 콘트라스트를 나타낸다,
제4도 및 제5도는 제1도에 개시된 TN 쎌에 실질적으로 상응하는 TN 쎌에 대한 전광 특성 라인을 나타낸다.

Claims (3)

  1. 양성 유전 이방성을 갖고, 전극이 장착된 2개의 기판과 정합층간의 비틀림 각도가 필수적으로 약 90°이며, 상기 기판간의 간격 d와 광학이방성 △n의 곱 d·△n이 0.15 내지 0.70μm인 네마틱 액정을 함유하는 TN 쎌에 있어서, 상기 액정이 회색조능을 개선시키기 위해 도핑 성분을 함유하여 상기 쎌이 기판간의 간격 d와 액정 피치 p의 교란되지 않은 지수에 대해 0.1≤d/p≤0.5의 값을 가짐을 특징으로 하는 TN 쎌.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 도핑 성분이, 낮은 임계 전압 온도 의존성을 갖도록 선택된 TN 쎌.
  3. TV 셋트 또는 비디오 장치의 디스플레이로서, 또는 다중매체 재생을 위한 교통 안내 시스템, 광학 컴퓨터, 광학 장치, 또는 광학 성분을 함유하는 전자 장치의 컴퓨터 스크린으로서의 제1항에 따른 TN 쎌의 용도.
