Abstract

Description

컴퓨터 상호접속 시스템
전형적인 지역 컴퓨터 네트워크에 있어서, 통신링크를 매개로 하여 수많은 네트워크 서버 자원에 연결된 수많은 클라이언트 컴퓨터가 있다. 이 자원은 예를 들어 파일 서버, 프린트 서버, 모뎀 서버, 그리고 CD-ROM 서버를 포함하고 있다. 각각의 서버는 일반적으로 각자의 키보드, 마우스 그리고 비디오 모니터를 가진 독립형 컴퓨터이다. 각각의 클라이언트 컴퓨터는 통신 링크를 통해서 서버 컴퓨터에 의해 제공된 기능을 활용할 수 있다.
대부분의 컴퓨터 네트워크는 서버 컴퓨터에 대한 하나 또는 다수의 컴퓨터 관리자, 즉 인간 작동자를 가진다. 그 시스템 관리자는 서버 컴퓨터를 운용하는 소프트 웨어의 작동을 모니터하고, 새로운 소프트 웨어 패키지를 로드하고, 구파일을 삭제하고 네트워크의 작동을 유지하는데 필요한 다른 작업을 실행한다. 대부분의 관리자 작업(소프트웨어 변경, 파일 삭제등등)은 클라이언트 컴퓨터로 부터 네트워크를 통해 실행될 수 있는 반면에, 네트워크 관리자는 그들의 작동과 직접 접선을 위해서 서버 컴퓨터에 물리적으로 위치되어 있어야 하는 일부 상황이 있다. 예를들어, 네트워크를 통해서 서버 컴퓨터를 리부트하는 것이 가능하지 않다. 서버 컴퓨터가 서로 결속되어있지 않으면, 리부트하는 것과 같이 간단한 작업에 필요한 시간이 실제로 있을 수 있다.

본 발명은 원거리 컴퓨터를 상호접속하는 시스템에 관한 것이다.

본 발명은 중앙에 위치한 네트워크 관리자가 복잡한 배선도 없이 장거리를 지나서 다수의 서버 컴퓨터를 작동하도록 하는 컴퓨터화된 스위칭 시스템을 제공한다. 일반적으로, 그 스위칭 시스템은 워크스테이션과 원거리 서버 컴퓨터 사이의 데이터 전송을 허용한다. 신호 조절 유니트는 워크스테이션으로부터 키보드와 마우스 신호를 수신하고 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 전송되는 연속 데이터 다발을 발생시킨다. 그 크로스 포인트 스위치는 원거리 서버 컴퓨터에 연결되어 있는 또다른 신호 조절 유니트에 키보드/마우스 다발을 전달한다. 서버 컴퓨터에 연결된 신호 조절 유니트는 그 키보드/마우스 다발을 디코드하고 마우스와 키보드가 원격 컴퓨터에 직접 연결된 것과 같은 방식으로 원격 컴퓨터상의 키보드와 마우스 접속기에 신호를 인가한다.
원격 컴퓨터에 의해 만들어진 비디오 신호는 워크스테이션에 크로스포인트 스위치를 통해서 전송된다. 원격 컴퓨터와 워크스테이션 사이에 뻗어있는 배선의 수를 최소화하기 위해, 모드 신호뿐만 아니라 수평 그리고 수직 동기신호는 아날로그 비디오 신호로 인코드된다. 본 발명의 실시예는 32개의 워크스테이션중 어느하나를 32개의 원거리 서버 컴퓨터중 어느하나에 접속되게 한다.
본 발명은 수많은 워크스테이션을 수많은 원거리 서버 컴퓨터에 연결되도록 하는 컴퓨터화된 스위칭 시스템이다. 본 발명의 현재의 바람직한 실시예에서, 32개의 워크스테이션까지는 32개의 원격 컴퓨터 시스템중 어느 하나에 접속될 수 있다. 그러나, 당업자는 상호접속가능한 수는 본발명이 사용되는 환경에 대해서 쉽게 변경될 수 있다는 것을 알 것이다.

CPU(80)는 이들 키에 대한 키보드 스트로크를 분석하고 명령의 끝점을 판단하는 글쇠누름을 분석한다. 명령이 포드자체에 지시된다면, 데이터 다발은 만들어지지 않는다. 명령이 원격 컴퓨터에 지시된다면, 포드에서 포드의 다발이 발생되고 전송된다. 명령이 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 지시된다면, CPU는 꼬인 쌍 케이블(72c)을 타고 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 전송되는 명령다발을 어셈블리한다.
원격 서버 컴퓨터에 연결되어 있는 포드(76)의 블록도는 도 3에 도시되어 있다. 포드(76)는 키보드/마우스 인터페이스(134)에 연결되어 있는 중앙 처리장치(CPU)(120)를 포함하고 있다. 키보드/마우스 인터페이스(134)는 서버 컴퓨터의 키보드와 마우스 접속기에 신호를 제공하고 수신한다. 그 컴퓨터의 키보드와 마우스 접속기로 부터의 키보드와 마우스 신호는 CPU(120)에 의해 판독되고 도 2A에 도시되고 상기된 포드에서 포드의 다발과 같은 방식으로 포드에서 포드의 다발로 어셈블리된다. CPU(120)에 의해 만들어진 포드에서 포드의 다발은 차동 라인 구동기(140)에 도선(136b)을 통해서 연속으로 다발을 전송하는 QUAD UART(136)에 전달된다. 차동 라인 구동기는 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 연결되어 있는 꼬인 쌍 케이블(74a)를 구동한다.
워크스테이션으로 부터 전송되는 포드에서 포드의 다발은 꼬인 쌍 케이블(74b)을 타고 수신되고 상이한 라인 수신기(140)에 제공된다. 차동 라인 수신기의 출력신호는 연속포맷에서 평행 포맷까지의 다발을 변경시키는 QUAD UART(136)에 제공된다. CPU는 그 다발을 판독하고 그다음 키보드와 마우스가 원격 서버 컴퓨터에 직접 연결된 것과 같은 방식으로 수신된 키보드와 마우스 신호를 신호가 원격 컴퓨터의 키보드와 마우스 접속기에 인가되는 키보드와 마우스 인터페이스(134)에 전송한다. 키보드와 마우스 접속기에 적용된 신호의 특정 포맷은 원격 컴퓨터의 유형에 따라 변할 수 있다. 그러므로 포드(76)내의 CPU는 그 신호를 그들의 적당한 포맷으로 변역하도록 프로그램된다.
포드(76)에서 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 보내진 명령은 도 2B의 다발구조를 사용한 포드의 펌웨어를 경신하고 포드의 상태를 호출하는것을 원격 컴퓨터에 허용한다. 사용자 포드와 같이, 모든 명령은 프린트 스크린키로 선행되어 엔터키로 끝마친다. CPU(120)는 이들 키에 대한 키보드 스트로크를 분석하고 명령의 끝점을 판단하는 글쇠 누름을 분석한다. 명령이 포드(76)에 지시된다면, 데이터 다발은 만들어지지 않는다. 명령이 워크스테이션에 지시된다면, 포드에서 포드의 다발은 발생되고 전송된다. 명령이 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 향하게 된다면, CPU는 꼬인 쌍 케이블(74d)을 타고 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 전송되는 명령 다발을 어셈블리한다.
원격 컴퓨터의 비디오 포트로 부터 나온 신호는 접속기(144)에 비디오 케이블(143)을 통해서 인가된다. 아래에 설명될 바와 같이, 수평과 수직 동기 신호와 함께 적색, 녹색 그리고 청색 아날로그 신호는 녹색과 청색 아날로그 비디오 신호 위에 각각 수평과 수직신호를 인코드하는 동기 결합 회로(146)에 제공된다. 모니터의 전류모드(즉, 수평과 수직 동기 펄스의 정확한 양극성)는 적색 아날로그 비디오 신호를 타고 동기 결합 회로(146)에 의해 인코드된다. 동기결합의 출력은 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 3개의 분리 꼬인 쌍 케이블(74f, 74g, 74h)을 통해서 신호를 전송하는 3개의 차동 라인 구동기(140)에 비디오 신호를 인가하고 신호를 조절하는 증폭기(148)에 인가된다.
원격 워크스테이션으로 부터 수신된 모니터 감지 데이터는 CPU(120)에 의해 디코드되고 한 세트의 모니터 감지 도선(147)에 인가된다. 원격 컴퓨터는 이들 도선을 탄 모니터 감지 데이터를 수신하고 비디오 신호를 디스플레이하는 특정 모니터에 대한 비디오 신호를 조정한다.
원격 컴퓨터에 의해 만들어진 오디오신호는 차동 라인 구동기(140)에 인가되고 꼬인 쌍 케이블(74c)을 통해서 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치에 전송된다.
도 4는 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치의 블록도이다. 중앙 스위치(60)는 주 중앙처리장치(150), 수많은 입력 카드(152), 수많은 스위치 카드(154) 그리고 수많은 출력카드(156)를 포함하고 있다. 입력카드의 각각은 최고 8개까지의 원거리 서버 컴퓨터에 신호를 송·수신하는 한편, 출력카드의 각각은 최고 8개까지의 원거리 워크스테이션에 신호를 송·수신한다. 주 CPU(150)는 디지털 버스(158)에 의해 입력카드(152)의 각각, 스위치 카드(154) 그리고 출력카드(156)의 각각에 연결되어 있다. 주 CPU와 함께 입력카드, 스위치카드 그리고 출력카드는 지역 네트워크를 통하여 접속되어 있다.
포드에서 포드의 다발은 스위치 카드를 통한 입력카드에서 출력카드까지 그리고 역으로 디지털 뒤표면부(160)에 전달된다. 아날로그 비디오와 오디오 신호는 분리한 아날로그 뒤표면부(162)상의 출력 카드(156), 스위치 카드(154) 그리고 입력 카드 사이에 전송된다.
입력카드(152)의 블록도는 도 5에 도시되어 있다. 출력 카드(156)는 오디오/비디오 신호의 방향이 바뀐것을 제외하고 입력카드와 동일하므로 분리하여 논의될 수 없을 것이다. 입력 카드(152)는 주 CPU(150)로 부터 데이터를 송·수신하는 자체 CPU(170)를 포함하고 있다. 원격 서버 컴퓨터로 부터 전송된 신호는 한세트의 차동 라인 구동기/수신기(172a-b)에 의해 수신된다. 원격 컴퓨터로부터 중앙 크로스 포인트 스위치에 보내진 명령은 그 명령이 직렬에서 병렬 포맷으로 변경되는 8진법의 UART(173)에 의해 수신된다. UART는 그 명령이 해석되어 주 CPU(150)으로 향하는 CPU(170)에 그 명령을 전달한다.
크로스 포인트 스위치의 스위치 카드, 출력카드 그리고 입력카드 사이에 데이터를 전송하기 위해서, 데이터는 다발을 보내는 카드의 CPU에 의해 도 2B에 도시돈 포맷으로 다발화된다. 다발은 다발의 시작을 표시하는 유일 캐릭터(112)로 시작한다. 끝점 어드레스(114)는 시작 캐릭터가 뒤따른다. 그 어드레스는 유일하게 크로스포인트 스위치내의 카드중 하나를 확인한다. 바이트(116)는 다발의 사이즈를 지시하는 한편 바이트(118)는 다발에 포함된 데이타의 유형을 지시한다. 바이트(120)의 직렬은 하나의 카드에서 다른 카드에 전송될 데이터이다. 그 데이터 다음에, 바이트(122)는 보내는 카드의 유일 어드레스를 지시한다. 체크합 바이트(124)는 발신자의 어드레스가 따르고 유일 캐릭터(126)는 정보 꼬리로서 보내진다. 크로스포인트 스위치의 카드 사이의 모든 데이터 다발의 전송은 주 CPU(150)에 의해 제어된다.
도 5로 되돌아가서, CPU(170)에 의해 발생되어 원격 서버 컴퓨터에 연결되어 있는 포드에 전송되는 명령은 차동 라인 구동기(172)에 도선(174b)을 타고 전송된다. 중앙 컴퓨터로부터 수신된 포드에서 포드의 다발은 도선(174c)을 타고 입력카드를 통해서 디지털 뒤표면부(160)에 전달된다. 유사하게, 원격 워크스테이션으로부터 전송된 포드에서 포드의 다발은 디지털 뒤표면부로부터 수신되고 도선(174d)을 타고 입력을 통해서 전달되고 차동 라인 구동기(172a)에 인가된다.
비디오 신호를 디지털 뒤표면부상의 노이즈로부터 차단하기위해서, 원거리 서버 컴퓨터로 부터 수신된 비디오와 오디오 신호는 분리한 아날로그 뒤표면부(162) 상에 전달된다. 원격 컴퓨터로 부터 수신된 오디오 신호는 도선(174e)을 고 입력카드를 통해서 전달되고 아날로그 뒤표면부(162)에 적용된다. 비디오 신호는 차동 라인 수신기(172a)에 의해 수신되고 도선(174f-h)을 고 입력카드를 통해서 아날로그 뒤표면부에 전달된다.
본 발명의 현 실시예에서, 각각의 입력카드는 최고 8개의 원거리 서버 컴퓨터로 부터 신호를 수신하기 위해 최고 8세트의 차동 라인 구동기/수신기(172a-172f)(남은 6개의 구동기/수신기는 도시생략)를 포함하고 있다. 각각의 원거리 컴퓨터로 부터의 신호는 상기된 방식으로 입력카드를 통해서 디지털과 아날로그 뒤표면부에 전달된다.
도 6은 스위치 카드(154)의 블록도이다. 그 스위치 카드는 자체중앙처리장치(CPU)(180)을 포함하고 있다. CPU(180)는 한 세트의 제어 도선(183)을 사용하여 16×16 아날로그 크로스포인트 스위치(184)와 16×16 디지털 크로스포인트 스위치(182)의 위치를 제어하기 위해서 주 CPU(150)로 부터 신호를 송·수신한다. 디지털 크로스포인트 스위치(182)는 원격 서버 컴퓨터에 의해 발생된 오디오 신호뿐만 아니라 워크스테이션과 원격 서버 컴퓨터 사이에 전송된 키보드/마우스 신호를 워크스테이션에 접속한다. 아날로그 크로스포인트 스위치(184)는 원격 서버 컴퓨터와 어느 하나의 워크스테이션 사이에 비디오 신호를 전송한다.
도 7은 32×32 크로스포인트 스위치의 디지털 뒤표면부가 32개의 워크스테이션과 32개의 원거리 서버 컴퓨터 사이에 신호를 전송하기 위해서 4개의 스위치 카드(154a, 154b, 154c, 154d)를 사용하여 구성되는 방법을 도시하고 있다. 스위치 카드(154a)는 16개의 원거리 서버 컴퓨터에 연결되어 있는 16개의 입력라인(186)과 16개의 워크스테이션에 연결되어 있는 16개의 출력 라인(188)을 가지고 있다. 스위치 카드(154b)는 다른 16개의 원거리 서버 컴퓨터에 연결된 16개의 입력라인과 스위치 카드(154a)의 16개의 출력라인(188)의 각각에 연결되어 있는 16개의 출력라인(194)를 가지고 있다. 스위치 카드(154c)는 스위치 카드(154a)의 16개의 입력라인(186)에 연결되어 있는 16개의 입력라인(198)을 가지고 있다. 스위치 카드(154c)의 16개의 출력라인(200)은 다른 16개의 원거리 워크스테이션에 연결되어 있다. 스위치 카드(154d)는 스위치 카드(154b)의 16개의 입력 라인(192)의 각각에 연결되어 있는 16개의 입력 라인(204)을 가지고 있다. 스위치 카드(154d)의 16개의 출력라인(206)은 스위치 카드(154c)의 16개의 출력 라인(200)에 연결되어있다. 아날로그 뒤표면부는 상기된 디지털 뒤표면부와 같은 방식으로 구성된다. 보는 바와 같이, 스위치 카드(154a,154b,154c,154d)의 배열은 32개의 원거리 컴퓨터중 하나로 부터의 데이터가 32개의 원거리 워크스테이션중 어느 하나에 연결되게 한다.
도 7에 도시된 유형의 스위칭 배열은 원거리 서버 컴퓨터와 대응워크스테이션 사이에서 전송될 신호를 필요로 한다. 본 발명의 현 실시예에서, 각각의 워크스테이션은 원격 컴퓨터로부터 오디오와 비디오 신호를 수신할뿐만 아니라 포드에서 포드의 다발을 송·수신한다. 그러므로, 도 6에 도시된 32×32 디지털 스위치에 대하여, 디지털 뒤표면부는 도 7에 도시된 유형의 2세트의 스위치를 포함하고 아날로그 뒤표면부는 비디오와 오디오 신호에 대한 다른 4세트의 스위치를 포함하고 있다.
본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에서, 디지털 16×16 스위치(182)는 도 8에 도시된 바와 같이 한쌍의 16×8 디지털 스위치를 이용하여 실행된다. 각각의 16×16 스위치는 스위치(210, 216)를 포함하고 있다. 스위치(210)는 16개의 입력라인(212)과 8개의 출력 라인(214)을 가지고 있다. 스위치(216)는 입력라인(212)의 각각에 연결되어 있는 16개의 입력 라인(218)과 8개의 출력라인(220)을 가지고 있다. 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에서, 16×8 스위치(210, 216)의 각각은 해리스에 의해 제조된 부품번호 CD22M34945Q이다.
비디오 신호가 전송되어 있는 아날로그 뒤표면부는 도 7에 도시된 스위치와 같은 방식으로 구성된다. 그러나, 더큰 대역폭이 필요하기 때문에, 각각의 16×16 스위치는 실리콘닉스에 의해 제조된 8개의 8×4 아날로그 스위치 모델 No.DG884DN을 사용하여 실행된다. 도 9에 도시된 바와 같이, 16×16 아날로그 스위치는 8개의 입력라인과 4개의 출력라인을 가진 스위치(222,224,226,228)각각을 사용하여 실행된다. 두번째 세트의 스위치(230,232,234,236) 각각은 8개의 입력라인과 4개의 출력라인을 가지고 있다. 스위치(230,232,234,236)의 입력라인은 병렬로 연결되어 있다. 스위치(230)의 출력은 스위치(222)의 출력과 병렬로 연결되어 있고, 스위치(232)의 출력은 스위치(224)의 출력과 병렬로 연결되어 있다. 스위치(234)의 출력은 스위치(226)의 출력과 병렬로 연결되어 있고 스위치(236)의 출력은 스위치(228)의 출력과 병렬로 연결되어 있다.
원격 컴퓨터에서 워크스테이션에 뻗어있어야 하는 와이어의 수를 최소화하기 위해서, 본 발명은 원격 컴퓨터로부터 전송된 아날로그 색체 비디오 신호위에 수평과 수직동기신호를 인코드한다. 도 10A-10C는 모니터의 모드 신호뿐만 아니라 수직과 수평 동기 신호를 인코드하는 동기결합회로(146)(도3)의 상세도를 도시하고 있다. 도 10A는 원격 컴퓨터에 의해 만들어진 녹색 비디오 신호위에 수평동기신호를 인코드하는 회로를 도시하고 있다. 그 회로는 컴퓨터 시스템에 의해 만들어진 수평 동기 신호를 수신하는 제1입력부를 가진 배타논리 or (XOR)게이트(250)를 포함하고 있다. 저항(252)과 커패시터(254)는 XOR게이트의 제1입력부와 대지사이에 직렬로 연결되어 있다. 저항(252)과 커패시터(254)의 결합에는 두개의 직렬 연결 인버터게이트(256,258)이다. 인버터(258)의 출력은 XOR게이트(250)의 제2입력부에 인가된다.
XOR게이트(250)는 수평 동기 신호의 정상상태가 무엇이던지 수평신호가 양의 진행펄스로 인코드되게 작동한다. 커패시터(254)상의 전압은 수평동기신호의 평균 밸브와 같다. 인버터 게이트(258)의 출력은 수평동기신호의 비작동상태와 같은 논리레벨을 가지고 있다. XOR게이트(250)의 출력부는 증폭회로(260)의 인버터 입력부에 연결되어 있다. 증폭기(260)의 비인버터 입력부는 녹색 아날로그 비디오 신호를 수신하도록 연결되어 있다. 수평 동기 신호가 정상 상태에 있을때, 증폭기(260)의 출력은 녹색 아날로그 비디오 신호가 뒤따른다. 그러나 수평 동기 신호가 작동될때, 작동 비디오는 O볼트에 있고, 증폭기(260)는 음의 진행 수평 동기 펄스를 만든다.
도 10B는 원격 컴퓨터에 의해 만들어진 청색 아날로그 비디오 신호위에 수직 동기신호를 인코드하는 회로를 도시하고 있다. 그 회로는 상기된 도 10A에 도시된 수평동기회로와 같은 방식으로 연결되어 있는 배타논리 or (XOR)게이트(270), 저항(272), 커패시터(274), 그리고 한쌍의 인버터(276, 278)를 포함하고 있다. XOR게이트의 출력은 수직 동기 신호가 작동될 때 항상 양의 진행 펄스이다. XOR게이트의 출력은 증폭기(280)의 인버터 입력에 전달된다. 수직 신호가 정상상태에 있을때, 증폭기(280)의 출력은 청색 아날로그 비디오 신호가 뒤따른다. 그러나, 수직 동기 신호가 작동될때, 음의 진행 펄스, V-동기가 증폭기에 의해 만들어진다.
도 10C는 비디오 모니터의 모드를 인코드하는 전자회로이다. 그 모드는 수평과 수직 동기 신호의 양극을 나타낸다. 모드의 변화는 비디오 모니터에 만들어진 비디오 디스플레이의 크기에 영향을 준다. 비디오 신호의 모드를 인코드하기 위해, 도 10C에 도시된 회로가 사용된다. 그 회로는 두개의 AND게이트(284, 286)로 구성되어 있다. 그 AND게이트(284)는 인버터(258)(도 10A에 도시)의 출력부에 연결된 하나의 입력부를 가지고 있다. AND게이트(286)는 인버터(278)(도 10B에 도시)의 출력부에 연결된 하나의 입력부를 가지고 있다. AND게이트(284,286)의 남은 입력부는 XOR게이트(270)(도 10B에 도시)의 출력부에 연결되고 모드신호는 수직 동기신호가 작동될때 적색 비디오 신호위에 단지 인코드된다.
AND게이트(284,286)의 출력부는 한쌍의 저항(290,292)에 각각 직렬로 연결되어 있다. 저항(290,292)는 공통 노드(291)에서 함께 연결되어있다. 저항(293)은 노드(291)와 대지사이에 연결되어있다. 수직 동기 신호가 작동할때마다, AND게이트(284, 286)는 비디오 모니터의 모드에 비례하는 노드(291)에 전압을 만든다. 그 비례전압은 증폭기(294)의 인버터 입력부에 전달된다. 증폭기(294)의 비인버터 입력부는 원격 컴퓨터에 의해 만들어진 적색 아날로그 비디오 신호를 수신하도록 접속된다. 수직 동기 신호가 정상상태에 있을때, 비교기(294)의 출력신호는 적색 아날로그 비디오 신호를 뒤따른다. 그러나, 수직동기화 신호가 작동될때, 모드신호는 적색 비디오 신호상에 인코드된다.
그 비디오 신호가 원격 워크스테이션에 아날로그 크로스포인트 스위치를 통해서 그리고 원격 서버 컴퓨터로 부터 전송되고 난 후에, 그 동기신호는 녹색과 청색 비디오 신호로부터 추출된다. 녹색 비디오 신호로부터 수평 동기 신호를 추출하기 위해서, 도 11A에 도시된 회로가 사용된다. 그 녹색 비디오 신호는 클리핑 증폭기(302)의 비인버터 입력부에 전달되는 출력 신호를 만드는 차동 수신기(90)에서의 포드에 의해 수신된다. 그 증폭기(302)의 출력신호는 비디오 모니터에 전달되는 녹색 아날로그 비디오 신호이다. 저항(304)의 비인버터 입력부와 차동 수신기(90)의 출력부 사이에 배치되어 있다. 피드백 저항(308)은 비교기(304)의 비인버터 출력부와 비인버터 입력부에 연결되어 있다. 비교기(304)의 비인버터 입력은 저항(310,312)에 의해 한정된 전압 분배기에 의해 인가된 일정한 기준전압에 묶여 있다. 차동 수신기(90)의 출력신호가 비교기(304)의 인버터 입력부에서 제공된 전압 아래의 크기를 가질때, 증폭기(304)의 인버터 출력부는 양의 진행 펄스를 만든다. 양의 진행펄스는 배타논리 or (XOR)게이트(314)의 입력부에 인가된다. 아래에 설명될 바와같이 적색 아날로그 비디오 신호로 부터 회복되는 수평 모드(H-모드)신호는 배타논리 or 게이트(314)의 다른 입력부에 연결된다. XOR게이트(314)는 H-모드 신호의 값에 따라 수평 동기 신호의 양극을 조절한다.
청색 비디오 신호로 부터의 수직 동기 신호를 추출하는데 필요한 회로는 배타논리 or (XOR)게이트가 수직 동기 신호의 양극을 조절하기 위해 V-모드 신호를 수신하는 것을 제외하고 도 11A에 도시된 회로와 같다.
그 비디오 모드 신호를 회복하기 위해, 본 발명은 도 11B에 도시된 회로를 활용한다. 그 적색 아날로그 비디오 신호는 적색 아날로그 비디오 신호를 만드는 차동 라인 수신기(90)에 의해 포드에서 수신된다. 비교기(324)는 수직 동기 펄스의 상승 에지에 의해 트리거되는 하나의 산탄(326)의 출력부에 의해 게이트로 제어되고, 수직 동기 신호가 작동될때 비교기는 단지 상태를 변화시킨다. 비교기(324)의 비인버터 입력부는 저항(326)과 저항(328)을 비교하는 전압 분배기에 의해 만들어진 기준 전압으로 인가된다. 비교기(320)의 인버터 입력부는 저항(330)과 저항(332)을 비교하는 전압 분배기에 의해 만들어진 일정 전압으로 인가된다.
저항(334)은 비교기(320)의 출력부와 비교기(324)의 인버터 입력부 사이에 놓여 있다. 마지막으로, 저항(336)은 비교기(320)의 인버터 입력부와 비교기(324)의 인버터 입력부 사이에 놓여 있다.
모드 추출 회로는 적색비디오 신호상에 인코드된 모드신호의 크기에 의존하는 논리레벨을 가지고 두개의 신호, H-모드와 V-모드를 만든다. 그 모드 신호의 크기가 0과 -0.15볼트 사이에 있다면, H-모드 신호와 V-모드 신호는 낮게 될 것이다. 모드신호가 -0.15와 -0.29볼트 사이의 크기를 갖는다면, H-모드 신호는 높게 될 것이고 V-모드신호는 여전히 낮게 될 것이다. 그 모드신호의 크기가 -0.29 와 -0.49 볼트 사이에 있을때, V-모드신호는 높고 H-모드 신호는 낮다. 모드신호의 크기가 -0.49볼트보다 낮을때 H-모드와 V-모드 신호 모두 높다. 알게 된 바와 같이, 위에서 주어진 값은 상이한 회로 소자가 사용된다면 다를 것이다.
비디오 모드 신호가 적색 비디오 신호로 부터 디코드되었을때, H-모드와 V-모드의 값은 도 11A에 도시된 XOR 게이트를 이용하여 수평과 수직 동기 신호의 양극을 조절하는데 사용된다.
보는 바와같이, 도 10A-10C와 도 11A, 도 11B에 도시된 회로는 신호가 정상적으로 사용되지 않을 때에 칼라 비디오 신호위에 동기와 모드신호를 인코드함으로써 원격 서버 컴퓨터와 워크스테이션 사이에 뻗어 있어야 하는 와이어의 수를 줄인다.

그 동기 편광자는 한쌍의 배타논리 OR(XOR)게이트(400, 402)를 포함하고 있다. XOR게이트(400)는 극성화될 동기 신호에 직접 연결된 하나의 입력부를 가지고 있다. 저항(404)은 동기신호와 XOR게이트(400)의 다른 하나의 입력부 사이에 연결되어 있다. 커패시터(406)는 XOR게이트(400)의 제2 입력부와 대지 사이에 연결되어 있다. 커패시터(406)상의 전압은 동기신호의 평균전압이다. 오버레이 제어 논리회로(366)의 주어진 표의 구조는 보통의 디지털 공학자의 기술내에 있다고 생각된다.

Claims (8)

  1. 키보드, 마우스 그리고 비디오 모니터를 포함하고 있는 유형의 수많은 워크스테이션을 수 많은 원격 컴퓨터 시스템에 접속시키기 위한 시스템에 있어서,
    전자 신호를 포함하고 있는 직렬 데이터 다발을 만들기 위해 그리고 키보드와 마우스에 의해 만들어진 전자신호를 수신하기 위해 워크스테이션에 연결된 복수의 제1 신호 조절 장치;
    직렬 데이터 다발을 운반하기 위해 제1 신호 조절장치에 연결된 복수의 제1통신 링크;
    수많은 입력부와 출력부를 포함하고 있는 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치로서, 직렬 데이터 다발을 하나의 입력부로부터 수신하여 하나 또는 그이상의 상기 출력부에 이 직렬데이터 다발을 전달하는 상기 중앙 크로스포인트 스위치;
    중앙 크로스포인트 스위치의 출력부에 연결된 복수의 제2 통신 링크; 그리고
    복수의 제2 통신 링크 스위치중 하나를 타고 전송된 직렬 데이터 다발을 수신하고 그 데이터 다발을 원격 컴퓨터의 키보드와 마우스 입력부에 공급하기 위해, 원격 컴퓨터 시스템에 연결된 복수의 제2 신호 조절 장치;
    로 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서, 복수의 제2 신호조절장치는 원격 컴퓨터 시스템에 의해 만들어진 비디오 신호를 수신하고 복수의 제2통신 링크중 하나를 타고 중앙 스위치에 그 비디오 신호를 전송하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서, 비디오 신호가 수평과 수직 동기신호뿐만 아니라 적색, 녹색, 그리고 청색 비디오 신호를 포함하고 있으며, 제2 신호 조절 장치의 각각이 그 비디오 신호가 중앙 스위치에 전송되기전에 적색, 녹색 또는 청색 비디오 신호중 두개위에 수평과 수직 동기 신호를 인코드하는 인코더 회로를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서, 비디오 신호는 수평과 수직 동기 신호의 양극을 지시하는 모드신호를 포함하고 있으며, 인코더 회로는 비디오 신호가 중앙스위치에 전송되기 전에 적색, 녹색 또는 청색 비디오 신호중 하나위에 모드신호를 인코드하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  5. 제 3 항에 있어서, 제1 신호 조절 장치는 적색, 녹색 또는 청색 비디오 신호로 부터 수평과 수직동기신호를 떼어내기 위한 디코더 회로를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  6. 제 5 항에 있어서, 디코더 회로는 적색, 녹색 또는 청색 비디오 신호로 부터 모드 신호를 떼어내는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서, 디코더 회로는 디코드된 모드신호를 근거로 하여 수평과 수직동기신호에 대한 양극성을 조정하기 위한 회로를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  8. 제 7 항에 있어서, 제1 신호 조절 장치에 포함된 스크린상의 프로그램밍 회로로서 비디오 모니터에 의해 디스플레이되는 비디오 신호를 만드는 스크린상의 프로그램밍 회로로 더 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
