Description
焼成対象のハニカム成形体は、直径D1(ハニカム径)が191mm〜356mmの範囲、及び、軸方向の長さH1が152mm(実施例1,4)または203mm(それ以外の実施例及び比較例1〜6)のものを使用した。
実施例1〜6の焼成用トチは、直径D2が88mm〜147mm、焼成用トチの高さH2が8mm、曲面部外縁部から最頂部までの高さH3が0.22mm〜0.87mmの範囲のものを用いた焼成用トチの高さH2が8mmまたは17mm、及び外縁部から最頂部までの高さH3が0.10mm〜0.42mmの範囲のものを用いた。これらは、いずれもプレストチであり、その材質は、ムライト質である。
上記実施例1〜6、及び比較例1〜8のハニカム成形体及び焼成用トチのそれぞれの組合わせで、焼成温度等の焼成条件を同一にしてそれぞれ焼成工程を行った。焼成によって得られたハニカム構造体の構造体端面から窪み部の最深部までの高さH4及び構造体端面の隔壁切れの有無について評価した。
構造体端面から窪み部の最深部までの高さH4が、2.0mm未満のものを“A”、2.0mm〜3.0mmのものを“B”、3.0mm以上または目視により隔壁切れが確認されるものを“C”として評価した。
Claims (7)
- 押出成形された円柱状のハニカム成形体を棚板に設置された焼成用トチの上に載置する載置工程と、
前記焼成用トチに載置された状態の前記ハニカム成形体を焼成し、ハニカム構造体を形成する焼成工程と
を備えるハニカム構造体の製造方法であって、
前記載置工程は、
前記ハニカム成形体の円形状の成形体端面の面積を、前記成形体端面に相対し、前記成形体端面と少なくとも一部が接する前記焼成用トチの断面円形状のハニカム載置面の面積で除した値が、2.5〜8.5の範囲であり、
前記ハニカム成形体の前記成形体端面の直径を、前記焼成用トチの前記ハニカム載置面の直径で除した値が、1.6〜2.9の範囲である前記焼成用トチが使用され、
前記焼成用トチの前記ハニカム載置面と前記ハニカム成形体の前記成形体端面とのそれぞれの中央部が一致するように載置されるハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記焼成工程によって形成された前記ハニカム構造体は、
前記焼成用トチとの接触によって凹状に窪んだ窪み部を備え、
前記ハニカム構造体の構造体端面から前記窪み部の最深部までの高さが3.0mm以下である請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記ハニカム構造体の前記構造体端面を研削する端面研削工程を更に備える請求項2に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
- 前記焼成用トチは、
セラミックス製のプレストチが使用される請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記焼成用トチの前記ハニカム載置面は、
凸曲面で形成された曲面部を有し、
前記曲面部の外縁部から最頂部までの高さが0.2mm〜0.9mmの範囲である請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記焼成用トチは、
断面円形状を呈する請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記ハニカム載置面の表面粗さは、
10μm以下である請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
