Abstract
Description
本出願は、2007年9月4日に出願した米国特許仮出願第60/982,978号明細書の利益を主張するものである。該出願の開示は、参照によりその全体が組み込まれる。
γ線滅菌したUHMWPEを圧縮成型してシート状とし(GUR(登録商標)1020、Quadrant社製、ドイツ)、機械加工し、不活性ガス雰囲気中で包装して3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌した。UHMWPE樹脂粉末を0.03、0.05または0.1wt%のα-トコフェロールと混合することによってビタミンEをブレンドした試料を作成し、圧縮成型してブロック状とし、空気中で7〜20Mradでγ線照射し、機械加工して所望の形状とした。試料のいくつかは追加的に3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌した。照射後の熱処理は行わなかった。
Claims (24)
- 超高分子量ポリエチレン、及び
混合物中のビタミンE濃度が0.02〜0.12wt%であるように最初に前記超高分子量ポリエチレンと混合され、次いで前記超高分子量ポリエチレンの融点より高い温度で前記超高分子量ポリエチレンとともに成型されて成型組成物を形成するビタミンEを含み、前記成型組成物は空気中で5〜20Mradの間の照射線量でγ線照射される組成物。 - ビタミンEの濃度が0.03〜0.1wt%の範囲である、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- ビタミンEがトコフェロールである、請求項1または2に記載の組成物。
- ビタミンEがα-トコフェロールである、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記γ線照射が7〜15Mradの範囲内の線量である、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記γ線照射が9〜11Mradの範囲内の線量である、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記γ線照射線量がビタミンEの濃度に比例して変化する、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 2.5〜4Mradの範囲内の線量でさらにγ線滅菌される、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 3Mradの線量でさらにγ線滅菌される、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記成型組成物がさらに熱処理を受けない、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 不活性ガス中でγ線滅菌される、請求項9に記載の組成物。
- 前記超高分子量ポリエチレンが粉末であって、該粉末は低い分子量を有する一部の粉末を含む多様な分子量分布を有する、請求項1〜11のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- a.濃度が0.02〜0.12wt%の範囲のビタミンEを超高分子量ポリエチレンと混合するステップと;
b.前記超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を前記超高分子量ポリエチレンの溶融温度より高い温度で成型するステップと;
c.前記成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を空気中で5〜20Mradの間の線量でγ線照射するステップと
を含む、組成物を混合する方法。 - ビタミンEの濃度が0.03〜0.1wt%の範囲である、請求項12に記載の方法。
- ビタミンEがトコフェロールである、請求項12または13に記載の方法。
- ビタミンEがα-トコフェロールである、請求項12〜14のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記照射ステップが前記成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を7〜15Mradの間の線量でγ線照射するステップを含む、請求項12〜15のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記照射ステップが前記成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を9〜11Mradの間の線量でγ線照射するステップを含む、請求項12〜16のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- ビタミンEの濃度をγ線照射線量と比例して変化させるステップをさらに含む、請求項12〜17のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記γ線照射され、成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を2.5〜4Mradの間の線量でγ線滅菌するステップをさらに含む、請求項12〜18のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記γ線照射され、成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌するステップをさらに含む、請求項12〜19のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記成型組成物がさらに熱処理を受けない、請求項12〜20のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物を前記超高分子量ポリエチレンの溶融温度より低い温度でアニールするステップをさらに含む、請求項12〜20のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 第1の補綴コンポーネントと接触するように構成された第1の表面と、第2の補綴コンポーネントと連接するように構成された関節面とを有する挿入物を含み、
該挿入物は超高分子量ポリエチレン及びビタミンEを含み、ビタミンEの濃度は0.02〜0.12wt%の範囲であり、ビタミンEは最初に前記超高分子量ポリエチレンと混合され、次いで前記超高分子量ポリエチレンの融点より高い温度で前記超高分子量ポリエチレンとともに成型され、前記超高分子量ポリエチレン及びビタミンEは空気中で5〜20Mradの間の照射線量でγ線照射される、補綴デバイス。
