1397893 Pharmaceutical compositions MERCK & CO INC 4 June 1973 [9 June 1972 30 June 1972] 26492/73 Heading A5B Anti-inflammatory compositions for topical administration comprise 2'-(4-pyridyl)-6, 16α- dimethyl-11#-17α, 21-trihydroxypregna-4, 6-diene [3, 2-c] pyrazol-20-one or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a clear waterwhite gel including water, at least one organic solvent such as ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, glycerine, 2-octyl dodecanol and methyl pyrrolidine, and at least one thickening agent such as hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose and a carboxypoylmethylene having a molecular weight of 940. The composition may also contain a stabilizing agent such as disodium edetate, sodium citrate, dipotassium edetate and citric acid.
