Abstract

A tobacco smoke filter comprises filamentary or sheet tobacco smoke filter material treated with an alkaline sodium salt of ortho-phosphoric acid. The amount of the salt added is from 10%-20% by weight of the filter material and it may be applied by dusting or in the form of a solution by spraying or coating. Quantative examples are given.
