The outlet of the hopper bottom may be closed by a rotary valve or other air lock, in which case the passages for the actuating links 481 for the pusher rings 55, 56 are sealed by bellows 60, Fig. 10. The support bars 37<SP>1</SP> for the pushers may be supported from the furnace structure by crank arm assemblies 57, 58, 59.
