Abstract

984,356. Maize harvesters. ETABLISSEMENTS BRAUD S.A. March 21, 1961 [June 24, 1960], No. 10229/61. Heading A1F. A maize harvester comprises two gatherers 14 mounted to be adjustable along a beam 5 transversely of the machine to allow the harvesting of crops having different row spacings. The crop is pulled downwards by two longitudinally grooved rollers 1 until the cobs are engaged by bars 9 which are transversely adjustable for differing sizes of crops. The cobs are moved rearwardly by fingers 4 on conveyers 3 and pass rotary or fixed cutters 17 which remove any stems remaining attached to the cobs before they are carried by a helical conveyer and elevator to a collector extending across the harvester, from whence an elevator carries the cobs to the thrashing mechanism of a combine harvester.
