Abstract

895,802. Endless belt conveyer delivery shoots; filling trains of railway wagons. HANMADE CONVEYOR CO. Ltd. Dec. 23, 1959 [Nov. 6, 1958], No. 35614/58. Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4). Quarried material, e.g. coal, is delivered from a conveyer belt 8 into trucks 1 by a shoot assembly comprising a screening plate 13, a hopper 3 which receives the finer material and delivers this into the trucks as they move from right to left, as shown, to form a layer on the floor of each truck, and a shoot defined by side plates 14 which delivers the coarser material on to the layer of finer material already deposited in the trucks. It is said that this arrangement greatly reduces breakage of the coal or other quarried material. The hopper 3 has an outlet which is closed automatically when between adjacent trucks by a door 5 secured to an arm 7 which is pivoted at 6 to the hopper and is engaged by the front and rear walls of the trucks. Alternatively an hydraulic piston-andcylinder may be used for operating the door. The shoot also has a pivoted door 15 which is operated by an hydraulic cylinder 16. The material passes from the belt 8 to the plate 13 via a receiving plate 12 secured to a pivoted lever 10 acted on by a spring 11 and adapted to operate a switch to stop the belt 8 should material jam between the plate 12 and the belt 8.
