884,465. Injection-moulding machines. HEHL, A., HEHL, K., HEHL, E., [trading as ARBERG FEINGERATE-FABRIK O. H. G., HEHL & SOHNE.]. Oct. 27, 1959 [July 24, 1959], No. 36442/59. Class 87(2). A plasticizing cylinder of an injection-moulding machine for thermoplastic materials has an external heater and contains a rigidly fitted spirally grooved mixing member by means of which the heated plastic material is given a twist to the right or left the grooves on the member decreasing in cross-section towards the nozzle mouth of the cylinder. A plasti cizing chamber 1, having a filling orifice 3 at one enc arid a nozzle mouthpiece 5 screwed on the other, contains a spirally grooved member 2 having cone shaped ends 2<SP>11</SP>, 2<SP>111</SP>. Mouthpiece 5 incorporates a heat control element 6 which automatically operates nozzle closing needle 7 and plastic material flowing down the apparatus is given a right-hand twist by the grooves in member 2 which fits tightly in cylinder 1. One ridge between the grooves terminates in a point 2<SP>11</SP> and a similar ridge terminates towards the orifice 3 as a cutter 2. In another embodiment (not shown) the grooved member fits loosely in cylinder 1 and is rotated by the plastic material.
