Abstract
772,736. Surface carburetters. SEGERSTAD, C. G. H. AF. March 22, 1954 [March 21, 1953], No. 8308/54. Class 7 (3). [Also in Group XXXIV] Air or gas or a mixture of gases flowing through a passage 4 is mixed with liquid fuel supplied by a wick member which is in two parts 5, 6. The lower wick part 6 is mounted on a plate 7 and can be moved by rotating a screw 8. Thus the wick part 6 can be moved out of contact with the wick part 5 as indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 2. The part 5 may be of less porous or tighter material than the wick part 6. The wick may be made of cellulose sponge or web, i.e. Wettex (Registered Trade Mark) a Wettex (R.T.M.) cellulose cloth or of ceramic or textile or fibrous material. One or both of the wick parts may be actuated by resilient means which tend to move the wick parts against each other. Results of a test are quoted. There may be three or more wick parts. Both or all of the wick parts may be movable or immovable. In the latter case a plate member may be adapted to be moved between the wick parts. The plate 7 may be slidable or adjustable in a more or less straight path. The parts of the wick may be of oval or other oblong or elongated cross-section. The fuel may be a solid which is brought into a liquid state by melting it.
