Abstract

771,166. Gyratory crushers. MACLEOD, L. R. July 4, 1955 [July 16, 1954], No. 19274/55. Class 59. A lining plate for the crusher shell of a gyratory crusher comprises two integral ribs projecting from the rear surface of the plate, one of the ribs being disposed along one edge of the plate and the other rib being disposed a short distance from the opposite edge of the plate. In the form shown, the crusher shell is lined with plates 10 each provided with integral upper and lower transverse ribs 11, 12 projecting from the rear surface thereof, the upper rib 11 being disposed a short distance from the upper edge 13 of the plate to provide a recess 14, into which a prising tool 21 may be inserted when it is desired to remove the lining plates from the crusher shell, and the lower rib 12 being disposed along the lower edge of the plate and having extending downwardly therefrom a projection 15 which engages a recess 14 in the lining plate arranged next below 'it in the crusher shell. The rear surface of each lining plate is provided with additional ribs 17, 18. The ribs 11, 12 of each lining plate are provided with integral pads 3, 4, Fig. 3. The lining plates are secured to the crusher shell by means of molten zinc 19 or equivalent low melting point metal which is poured into the space between the lining plates and the crusher shell for which purpose recesses 20 may be formed in the ribs 11, 12. In a modification, the upper rib may be disposed along the upper edge of the lining plate and the lower rib spaced a short distance from the lower edge of the plate. Alternatively, the recess (14) and projection (15) may be provided at opposite side edges of each lining plate.
