Class 75(1) [Also in Group XXIX] In a blowpipe for cutting metal in which a lever 39 through the intermediary of a sliding rod 25 connected to angularly disposed lugs 40 on the lever by a pin 45 opens a valve 20 in the oxidizing gas supply line the lever 30 can be arranged in four different positions, namely forwardly and rearwardly overslung and underslung on the blowpipe and effect operational engagement between the lugs 40 and the sliding rod 25 to move the sliding rod 25 always in the direction to open the valve 20, this being possible by the lugs 40 passing at 6 one or other side through apertures 37 in a sleeve 15 and by providing two pivot points 41, 42 in the lugs 40 one on each side of the rod 25. In Fig. 3 the lever 39 is shown in full lines pivoted in one of the two positions and shown dotted in the other, i.e. the over and underslung positions, at the forward end of the blowpipe by a pin 43 mounted in a body member 27 and holes 41 in the lugs 40. In. Fig. 4 the lever 39 is shown in full lines pivoted in one of two positions and shown dotted in the other at the rear end of the blowpipe by a pin 43 mounted in a body member 14 and different holes 42 in the lugs 40. The sliding rod 25 opens the spring-loaded valve 20 through an adjustable lock nut 29, 30 acting on a sleeve 31. A sliding catch 47, 48.
