578,827. Pistons. WINTER, S. H. Aug. 28, 1944, No. 16273. [Class 122 (i)] [Also in Group VI] A piston for hypodermic syringes or the like consists of a cylindrical metal core (a) having one conical, tapered or ogival end (c) and one screw threaded end (e), and carrying a tightly fitting surrounding cylindrical cap or covering (b) of resilient non-corroding material, such as hard rubber, closed at the end (g) adjacent the reduced end (c) of the core. The closed end of the cap preferably has a reduced thickness opposite the reduced end of the core, provided, e.g., by a recessed portion (h). The core screws on to the piston rod (f) and may have a shoulder (d).
