Abstract

555,267. Machine guns. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and HIGSON, P. R. March 3, 1941, No. 2866. [Class 92 (ii)] A gun feed-box for cartridge belts having disintegrating links is of drum formation, the cartridges being supported between the teeth of spaced sprockets 3 on a rotary shaft 5, and the links being stripped off the cartridges by members 7 on the drum. The separated cartridges are then conveyed by the sprockets to the feed opening in the gun 2. The shaft 5 may be driven by the gun mechanism, and reverse rotation of the shaft is prevented by a ratchet pawl.
