Abstract
456,468. Filtering gases. ALEXANDER, G. H., 82, Coleshill Street, Birmingham. July 31, 1935, No. 21702. [Class 8 (ii)] An air or gas filter comprises a conical mat 1 of tangled wire or strip material on a conical perforated support 2. The filter is enclosed in a tubular section 4, and a series of such sections may be employed, the ends of the tubes having quick-release air tight joints, e.g. the ends are beaded and connected by joints 9. Leakage round the edges is prevented by a deflector 5 secured to the tube. Aqueous glycerine &c. may be sprayed into the filter, or the filter may be dipped in such material. The filter may be cleaned by a hose, by rinsing in water, or by using enough spray to wash down the dust from the first filter, the solution being carried through the series, recovered by baffles &c., led to settling tanks, and recirculated.
