374,638. Gaiters for personal wear. THOMPSON, L., 70, Tasker Road, Crookes, Sheffield. June 18, 1931., No. 17652. [Class 141.] Gaiters for protecting ladies' stockings are provided with means for securing a detachable lining thereto. In the gaiter shown, a shaped stiffener 11 is provided in known manner at the front extending along the instep and shin part, and a second stiffener 19 is provided at the side. The stiffeners may be made of flattened spiral spring and may be housed in pockets. A sliding-clasp fastener 15, 16 may serve as a closure, and on one or both sides of the opening stiffeners may be provided. A detachable lining is shown in Fig. 6 for attachment to the garter. The lining may be laced or attached by press buttons or similar fastenings to the interior of the gaiter. For this purpose, slots 21 are provided at the top of the lining and along the longitudinal edges 23. Corresponding slots 25 in the flaps 24, 17, 27 on the interior of the gaiter are used in conjunction with the slots 21 for lacing the lining to the gaiter. A bag may be provided for containing the gaiters.
