Abstract

336,356. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). Aug. 22, 1929. Charges, agitating. -A water tube boiler is combined with a rotary gas producer 15 which has an open top and is located below the open end of the boiler furnace 1 of which it constitutes the closure. Supported by the furnace wall are a valve-regulated coal-feeder 30 and a water-cooled coal stirrer 32 operated by an eccentric 34<1>. In a modification, the coal stirrer and feeder are mounted together on a pipe which is movable in bearings in the furnace walls so that the stirrer can be moved to all parts of the producer, and a screw conveyer feeds coal into the producer.
