Abstract
326,815. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Dec. 12, 1928. Emulsions, making.-Sulphonated products obtained from non-aromatic carboxylic acids containing more than 8 carbon atoms, or an ester thereof with a polyvalent alcohol, by treating with not more than three molecules of a strong sulphonating agent at a temperature below 35‹ C. and in the presence of an inert diluent, e.g. nitrobenzene or carbon tetrachloride, are stated to be emulsifying agents which may be used in acid solutions. In examples, sulphonated products are prepared from oleic acid, train oil, train oil fatty acid, stearic acid, and cocoanut oil.
