Distilling zinc.-Zinc is obtained from its oxide or oxide ores by reduction under reduced pressure with a, metal such as copper or manganese, or preferably iron, at about 800-900‹ C. in the absence of carbon or other materials yielding gaseous reaction products. The amount of iron used may be such that ferroso-ferric oxide is formed, and this may be reduced to iron and used again in the process.
