265,055. Jackson, L. Mellersh-, (Robinson Fiber Corporation). June 1, 1926. Pulp, preparation of.-Pulps, both chemical and mechanical, are improved, and a product obtained which can be left to stand for long periods and yields a stronger paper, by mixing therewith in the beater sodium peroxide in quantity sufficient to make the pulp alkaline to litmus. The beating is preferably effected at 120‹ to 130‹ F., and takes about ten minutes. With new stock, 0.1 to 0.25 lbs. of sodium peroxide are added to 100 lbs. of pulp, while 1.25 to 2 lbs, are required with pulp from re-claimed waste paper.
