Abstract
A ridable rocking animal, e.g. a horse, comprises a stand 11 and a body 1 in the form of an animal secured to the stand 11. Rocking of the animal by the user riding thereon causes the limbs 12 of the animal to move in a running action. The running action of the limbs 12 is produced by the utilisation of one or more cranks 10 connected to two or more flywheels 2, which in turn move four shaped panels 6 , 7 , 8 & 9 hinged together to form a trapezium or parallelogram linkage associated with each limb of the animal.
Description
RIDABLE RUNNING ROCKING ANIMAL
This invention relates to a Ridable rocking animal of the type that includes crank like supports mounted on a self-supporting freestanding structure.
Such ridable rocking animals are well known but suffer from the disadvantage that when they rock back and forth the legs remain stationary in relation to the body.
An object of this invention is to provide a means by which the legs of the ridable rocking animal can move independently in a running motion.
Accordingly this invention provides a ridable rocking animal mounted on a self-supporting freestanding structure, with two or more crank driven trapeziums comprising conjoined corresponding layers caped with a final layer, All formed to reflect the shape of the animal.
Preferably the ridable rocking animal is made from wood but it may be made from plastic, glass fiber, metal or a combination of these materials.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 Shows a side view of the ridable rocking animal on a self-supporting freestanding structure.
Figure 2 is a section showing cranks and bearing mounting points to self-supporting freestanding structure Figure 3 shows the final capping layer and wide use of bearings, with leg in resting position.
Referring to the drawing the rocking animal comprises a self-supporting freestanding structure 11 and a body 1 with a cavity 5 in the form of an animal, secured to the self-supporting freestanding struëture 11 by for example a bolt utilizing one or more crank 10 connected to two or more flywheels 2 in turn moving a trapezium comprising essentially four shaped panels 6, 7, 8, 9 hinged together using a shaft, for a example a bolt through a bearing 4 in turn moving an appendage 12 shaped like part of an animal capped with one or more finishing panels 3 all formed to resemble an animal, for example a horse.
Claims (2)
- CLAIMS1 A ridable rocking animal comprising a body in the form of an animal mounted on a self-supporting freestanding structure with two or more trapeziums situated at the front and rear of the body made from conjoined corresponding layers.
- 2 A ridable rocking animal as claimed in claim 1 wherein the rocking motion turns one or more crank in turn moving a trapezium or parallelogram and relevant appendage 3 A ridable rocking animal as claimed in claim I or claim 2 wherein the trapezium includes a final capping layer.4 A ridable rocking animal as claimed in claim 3 where bearings are provided on pivoting panels.A ridable rocking animal as claimed in any preceding claim including a cavity for storage.6 A ridable rocking animal as claimed in preceding claim which is made from wood, plastic, glass fiber, metal or any combinations of these materials.7 A ridable rocking animal substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
