Abstract
245,813. Upton, S. Aug. 15, 1924. Direct air pressure apparatus, automatic. - A system of raising liquids by means of a head of water supplied by a canal &c. comprises an operating chamber D connected by a pipe B to the high level water A and by an air pipe F to a closed container G which is fed from the high level water through the valved pipe H. During the filling of the chamber D, the air in the pipe F is compressed and forces the water in the chamber G through a pipe O to an open tank A<1>. During' the emptying of the chamber D through the valve E liquid flows into the chamber G, after which the cycle is repeated. The pipes B, H are controlled by valves C, M, and all the valves may be controlled by hand or by electrical or other external power. The liquid may be raised through several stages, the pipe F being connected to several chambers G at different levels. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 11936/90, 181,762, 182,412, 217,063, and 217,654.
