Abstract

A duvet cover in which a fully and permanently enclosed envelope has a slot, situated in the middle third of its width or length and incorporating a temporary closure device. By incorporating a slot within this location users are enabled to insert and remove the duvet with increased ease.

1), 2336775 DUVET COVER This invention relates to a duvet cover.

Duvet covers are used to protect duvets against the ingress of dirt, perspiration and other undesirable stains, and to maintain their cleanliness for a greater!ength of time between cleaning than if covers were not used. The duvet cover is removable for cleaning.

I he act of removing and replacing a duvet cover upon a duvet although simple in principle involves considerable dexterity that deters rnany people from undertaking the task. According to the present invention this task vAll be simplify by replacing the current end or side opening with one more centrally positioned.

The invention will now be described by way of example w-.th reference to the accompanying drawing in which.--- Figure 1 shown in perspective illustrates the duvet cover In the partial open position.

Referring to the drawing the duvet cover (1) is formed as a fully permanently enclosed envelope in which a slot (2) is introducedin the central third along its length or width and extending between sixty-five and nine-eight percent of its circumference. The slot incorporates a temporary closure device (3) [typically a zip fastener, press-studs, VelerJ', butio-rs and buttonholes, or hooks and eyes] and may also include a cosmetic flap to hide the means of temporary closure.

To insert a duvet, the slot (2) is opened and the duvet inserted into one end of the cover, the rest of the duvet is then inserted into the other end of the duvet cover. The temporary closure device (3) is engaged to complete the operation.

To remove the duvet the temporary closure device (3) is opened allowing the duvet to be withdrawn from the cover through the slot (2).
