Abstract

The invention relates to a device for use in removing a boot or shoe from a foot and has a slot which can engage a boot or shoe inserted into it, and a pressure surface on which the other foot is pressed to resist the upward force exerted as the first foot is pulled out of the boot or shoe. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Boot or shoe removing device This invention relates to a device for use in removing a boot or shoe from a foot.
According to the invention, the device comprises gripping members defining a slot and arranged to engage a boot or shoe on the foot inserted in the slot, and pressure surface upon which a second foot may be placed whereby downward pressure may be exerted on the device as the first foot is pulled from the boot or shoe.
The slot may be a V-shaped slot in a board, the sides of the slot constituting the gripping members. The board preferably includes the pressure surface arranged adjacent to the slot, and may be elevated above the surface upon which it is placed.
The device of the invention is simple in construction and requires no anchoring means securing itto a surface, relying on the user's own weight to prevent it lifting in use. It is readily portable and can be used for any size or type of shoe or boot without adaptation.
Reference is made to the accompanying drawing, which shows the device according to an embodiment of the invention in use.
The device comprises a board 1, which is suitably formed of wood or plastics, having a foot surface 2 at one end and a V-shaped slot 3 at the other end. The slot 3 is cut so as to taper outwardly from the upper surface to the lower surface of the board 1. The taper assists gripping on the boot or shoe. A support 4 is attached to the lower side of the board 1 at a position adjacent to the slot 3, and displaced from the mid-point of the board, so as to elevate the end of the board wherein the slot 3 is located.
The slot may typically be of an angle of about 450 to 600. The taper may be of the order of 150 to the vertical with the board horizontal.
In use, the user stands with one foot 5 on the foot surface 2 and the other foot 6 inserted heel first into the slot 3 until the boot 7 thereon is engaged against the sides of the slot 3. The foot 6 is then pulled out of the boot 7, and the procedure may then be repeated for the other foot.
It will be appreciated that the device can be used in any location and does not require to be fixed. Thus, it may be put away when not required.
1. A device for use in removing a boot or shoe from a foot, comprising gripping members defining a slot and arranged to engage a boot or shoe on the foot inserted in the slot, and a pressure surface upon which a second foot may be placed whereby downward pressure may be exerted on the device as the first foot is pulled out of the boot or shoe.
2. A device according to claim 1, wherein the slot is a V-shaped slot in a board.
3. A device according to claim 2, wherein the board includes the pressure surface arranged adjacent to the slot.
4. A device according to claim 2 or 3, wherein the slot is in one end of the board and a support is mounted on the underside of the board and arranged to elevate the slot above any surface upon which the device is located.
5. A device for use in removing a boot or shoe from a foot, substantially as described with reference to the drawing.
