Description

BOOT FULLER Filed June 11, 1968 FIG.4
INVENTORS. LEONARD DROUILLARD & ANTHONY ZANETTE ATTOR NEY United States Patent Office- 3,526,346 Patented Sept. 1, 1970 US. Cl. 223-114 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for removing boots and overshoes consisting of a forked platform bolted to a pan-shaped base in which a boot can be wedged and held while the foot contained therein is being pulled out.
This invention consists generally of a device for assisting people in the removal of boots or shoes from their feet without expending too much effort, as is usually the case; and this invention is particularly of value in the removal of heavy boots, tall boots, or overshoes.
Many people, particularly those of heavy stature or those advanced in age, experience considerable difliculty in removing overshoes or tall boots, also modern styles tend to introduce very tall shoes for women of all ages. At the present time, the only way such boots could be removed is manually, involving a considerable amount of bending and strain. In the winter time or during rainy weather, this becomes a very messy procedure creating a great amount of inconvenience.
It is therefore the object of this invention to provide a boot pulling device which, during the process of boot removal, will eliminate the necessity of bending, the handling of mud covered boots or overshoes, and excessive exertion.
This is accomplished in the invention by a device which employes the feet only for the removal of boots and at the same time provides greater leverage to reduce effort and exertion.
In describing the invention reference will be made to the attached drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a plan of the invention,
FIG. 2 is an elevation of the invention,
FIG. 3 is a plan of the underside of part of the invention, and
FIG. 4 is a plan view of the underside of another part of the invention.
In the drawings is shown a device made of wood, metal, or plastic material, consisting of a fork shaped part 1 and a base 2 to which the part 1 is attached by means of a plurality of bolts 3, and nuts 4.
The fork shaped part 1 consists of a circular area 5 which narrows down toward the center and then expands again into two arms 6 and 7. These arms form a V-shaped groove 8. The face of the part 1 is provided with a pattern of corrugations 9 for the purpose of making it non-slip.
The rear of the circular area 5 is provided with a short fence 10. The underside of the part 1 is provided with a pattern of ribbing 11 for stiffness. A plurality of holes 12 contain the bolts for attaching the parts 1 and 2. The part 1 is also provided with a peripheral wall 13 which is shaped so as to provide an upwardly pointing angle to the part 1 when it is attached to the fiat base 2.
The base 2, which is preferably of rectangular shape and large enough to contain the part 1, is provided with a raised fence around its perimeter to form a pan for catching any mud or snow which comes off a boot. The underside of the base 2 is provided with a pattern of ribbing 14 for reinforcement, and a plurality of holes 15 for the passage of the bolts 3.
The procedure for the use of the invention consists of placing one boot clad foot upon the part 5 of the fork shaped part 1 While the other boot clad foot is inserted into the V-shaped groove 8 so that the heel of the boot is wedged between the arms 6 and 7. This enables the foot to be pulled out of the boot which remains wedged in the groove -8. The boot is then removed from the said groove and the process is repeated for the removal of the other boot.
Having described the invention, what we claim is:
1. A device for removing boots from feet comprising a rectangular base member and a fork-shaped section secured thereon, said fork-shaped section having an elongated rear portion and a V-shaped front portion, said rear portion having a convex rear edge and side edges narrowing toward said V-shaped front portion, said V- shaped front portion having outwardly diverging arms extending forwardly of said side edges with the inner 0pposed surfaces thereof defining said V-shaped front portion, said side edges of said rear portion having means of increasing height toward said V-shaped front portion including the top surface of said fork-shaped section and spacing said arms relative to said base member, said base member having a pan-like top surface about said forkshaped section, a continuous upstanding wall marginally about the periphery of said base member defining said pan-like top surface, and means securing said base member to said fork-shaped section.
