Abstract

201,817. Rees, H. D. Oct. 16, 1922. Liquating. - Apparatus for separating metal from dross comprises a vessel provided with means for agitating the heated dross to allow the metal to gravitate therefrom and to be subsequently drained or tapped from the vessel. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the dross, after having been heated in a suitable furnace, is transferred to a vessel 1 provided with a hand-operated stirrer 4. The vessel is formed with a normally closed hole 21 for the discharge of the metal, and is adapted to be tilted to discharge the contents. It may be provided with two detachable covers 22 having the slots which embrace the shaft 3 arranged out of register. In a modification, the vessel is enclosed in a housing, and the stirrer, which is power driven, is arranged to be lifted out of the vessel with its shaft, to enable the vessel to be tilted.
