Abstract
200,860. Laing, A. Jan. 4, 1923. Blowpipe burners; spray burners.-In a gaseous or liquid fuel burner comprising a burner body a, an air or steam inlet a<5>, an inner fuel tube b, b<3> having a tapered end, and an adjustable nozzle e threaded in the burner body, one or more spacing washers e<3> are inserted between the nozzle and the burner body to determine the position of the nozzle in respect to the fuel tube. In the construction illustrated, the fuel tube is secured to the burner by a coupling f screwing on the burner body or formed with a helical surface engaging a recessed portion a<4> on the burner body. Soft washers b<9>, b<10> are interposed between the burner body and collars b<7>, b<8> on the fuel tube. Fuel is supplied to the burner body through a connection a<3> and passes through slots b<3> into the tube b, b<1>. An adjustable valve spindle c formed with guides c<4> controls the outlet from the tube b, b<1>. A spiral cone d, Fig. 3, is fitted between the nozzle e and the tube b, b<1>. The burner body is formed with a flange a<9> by which it is secured to the front plate g' of an air director g. The entrance of air through apertures g<5> in the fixed sleeve and through apertures in the front plate g<7> is regulated by rotating an apertured sleeve g<2> and an apertured louvre g<9> respectively.
