Winding-machines. -To wind a bunch of yarn upon bobbins in front of or above a metallic sleeve thereon which, when the bobbin is in use in a loom shuttle, completes an electric circuit when the yarn supply is substantially exhausted and thereby effects the ejection of the exhausted bobbin and the insertion of a full one, the thread guide 4 of the winding-machine is held in an advanced position on the traverse bar against the action of a spring 9 by a trip lever 10, which, when the required number of traverses have been wound in front of the metallic sleeve 2<1>, is released, whereupon the guide is. moved by the spring to its normal position for winding the bobbin. At each reciprocation of the traverse bar an abutment 15 on the usual former of the traverse mechanism operates a lever 14 which rotates a ratchet-wheel carrying a disc 20 provided with projections 20<1>, 20<2>. When the bunch is fully wound, the projection 20<1> engages a stop 21 on the lever 14 and holds the lever in inoperative position, and the projection 20<2> operates the trip-lever 10 and thereby allows the spring 9 to move the guide to its normal position on the traverse bar, in which position it is held. during the winding of the bobbin by a stop 10<3> on the lever 10.
