Abstract

1320437 Starting; heating combustion air ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 24 Sept 1971 [28 Sept 1970] 44601/71 Headings F1B and F1K Combustion air heating device for a diesel engine comprises a combustion chamber 14 through which combustion air flows in parallel with the flow through the main induction pipe 10' . Air enters the device through a filter 11 and is controlled by a valve 15. An electromagnetic valve 17 controls the flow of fuel from a pump 18 to an injection nozzle 16. The airfuel mixture is ignited by a spark plug 20. The valve 15 can be operated automatically when the engine is being started or is running light, the pump, valve, nozzle and spark plug can be energized at the same time.
