1314564 Electro-phoretically coating with a thermosetting resin REICHHOLD - ALBERT - CHEMIE A G 19 May 1970 [22 May 1969] 24237/70 Heading C7B [Also in Division C3] An electro-phoretic coating process employs a thermosetting resin composition which comprises a pulverulent mixture of (A) an amino resin and (B) a polyester resin. (A) and (B) each have softening pt>45‹C., melting viscosity at 130‹C. #1500 Poise, acid no. #50, and OH no. #50. (A) is a melamine, urea, or guanamine resin including dimethylol carbamates and cyclic urea compounds. It may be a melamine resin, whose molecule contains only one or a few melamine groups, etherified with a monohydric alcohol At least 5/6 of the H-Atoms of the melanine NH 2 gps may have been replaced by CH 2 -OH gps by reaction with HCHO. (B) may be a reaction-product of a polyethylene terephthalate, of M. W. 40,000-80,000, with (D) a C 2-24 polyhydric alcohol and/or (E) a C 4-14 polycarboxylic acid or its anhydride. In addition to (L) and (E) there may be present C 1-8 monohydric alcohol and/or a C 6-16 monocarboxylic acid. The composition may have particle size of from below 40Ám up to 500Ám. Also present may be pigments, fillers, or flow agents.
