Abstract

1308098 Sealing rollers WALZLAGERKOMBINAT VEB 30 June 1971 30681/71 Heading F2B A sealing device for sealing between a roll 1 and a roll-neck bearing 12 comprises a labyrinth seal formed between a labyrinth ring 3 and a bearing cap 8, two axially-acting slide seal rings 5, 51 mounted in the bearing cap to abut a flat surface of the labyrinth ring, two radiallyacting seal rings 9, 9<SP>1</SP> mounted on the cap to engage a cylindrical surface of the labyrinth ring, a grease chamber 20 in the interspace between the rings 5<SP>1</SP> and 9, a baffle plate 10 on the cap providing a clearance seal action, a collecting groove 18 in the outer surface of the end cap, a portion of the labyrinth ring being formed as a slinger and the outer surface of the labyrinth ring being tapered and provided with a seal ring 2. The end face 17 of the labyrinth ring 3 may be coated with synthetic resin to provide a further seal. Pressure relieving bores (13, 11), Fig. 2 (not shown) lead from the grease chamber 20. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the baffle plate 10 is detachable.
