Abstract
1383743 Bolted joints; furniture joints ARKANA Ltd 26 April 1972 [3 May 1971] 12766/71 Headings F2H and F2M In a fitting for joining structural members, an insert 22 may be urged further into a recess by rotation of a retaining pin 30 having a cam surface which engages a shoulder 25 on the insert. A screw member engages a threaded hole in the insert 22 and, in the Fig. 3 embodiment, tight abutment of members 10, 12 may be achieved solely by rotation of the screw member 16. In further embodiments, e.g. as shown in Fig. 5, the member 35 is threaded throughout its length, and may, as shown, engage within a nylon bush 33 glued within member 10. When tight abutment of members 10, 12 is effected by rotation of the pin 30. Alternatively, the screw member may pass through member 10 to engage in a second insert 22 in a third structural member (Fig. 6, not shown). The pin 30 may comprise a sleeve on a screw threaded rod so as to allow three or four structural members to be joined (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown).
