Abstract

1379322 Pneumatic conveyers BRITISH CELLOPHANE Ltd 24 Aug 1973 [1 Sept 1972] 40762/72 Heading B8A Apparatus for distributing powdered material at a uniform rate comprises a fluid ejector having a suction inlet, a screw conveyer to deliver powder to the suction inlet, a screen between the screw conveyer and the suction inlet, and at least one air inlet to introduce air into the suction inlet adjacent the screen. The screen has apertures of a size such that the powder may be extruded through the screen without blocking the screw conveyer, while preventing passage of clumps of powder. The figure shows a screw conveyer 1 conveying powder from hopper 4 to suction inlet 7. A screen 9 is fixed between the outlet 6 of the conveyer 1 and the inlet 7. Air inlets 10, 11 supply air to entrain the powder into fluid ejector 8. The longitudinal axis of the suction inlet is preferably offset from the longitudinal axis of the screw conveyer, as shown.
