Abstract

1372890 Electric battery lamps P G GARRITY 16 Nov 1971 [16 Nov 1970] 53221/71 Heading F4R A flashlight comprises a housing 11, containing batteries 23 and a bulb 24 in an opening 17 at one end, a switch opening 16 and a slotted opening 14 formed spaced apart in the housing which are joined by a channelway formed by grooves 27, 28 on the exterior of the housing, and a conducting member 15 which is disposed in the channelway and which has at one end a bent spring contact 15A extending into the slotted opening 14 to bias the batteries towards the lamp and at the other end a switch arrangement 15B which is free to flow within the switch opening 16 into and out of contact with the bulb. As shown, the housing is in two halves 12, 13 which may be permanently or releasably secured together. Each housing half has a partition 18 formed with an arcuate cut-out opposite the switch opening 16 to provide a seat for the bulb 24 yet permit contact between the bulb contact 24B and switch 15B. The switch end 15B of conductor 15 is reversely bent to define a spring clip or holder 30 by which the pen light construction may be supported in a pocket. Hump 12G, 13G on the housing prevents accidental operation of the flashlight.
