Abstract
1368534 Fuel injection pumps VYSOKE UCENI TECHNICKE V BRNE 23 March 1972 [24 March 1971] 13561/72 Heading F1A The quantity of fuel delivered by a fuel injection pump comprising a piston 1 reciprocable in a cylinder 2 is varied by controlling the pressure of the fuel supplied to the cylinder through a port 7 opened and closed by the piston during its reciprocations. A throttle 8 disposed between the port 7 and a filling chamber 9 determines, in dependence on the fuel supply pressure, the amount of fuel which enters the cylinder while the pressure in the latter is below the supply pressure. Because of the throttle 8 and the low cylinder pressure, fuel vapour forms in the cylinder and at a point in the stroke after closure of the port 7 the vapour condenses and is delivered through a delivery valve 6.
