Abstract

1,219,765. Fuel injection pumps. C.A.V. Ltd. March 8, 1968 [March 28, 1967], No. 14061/67. Heading F1A. An injection piston 19 disposed in a bore 15 of a rotary distributor 11 is actuated hydraulically by liquid discharged from cylinder 12, until a passage 30 is uncovered. Discharge is through a spring-loaded valve 20 to distributor passage 17 and ports 18. During delivery the piston 19 engages and further opens the valve 20 so that at the end of delivery the valve 20 is held open to allow return flow from the ports 18. Return of the piston 19 is effected by feed pump pressure which is connected to the bore 15 on both sides of piston 19 through passages 22, 23 controlled by throttle 53.
