Abstract

1368167 Valves WINKEL MACHINE CO Inc 14 Nov 1972 [15 Nov 1971] 52596/72 Heading F2V An apparatus for supplying precise quantities of molten lead to a trough 80 pivotable about a point 81 for filling a mould 12, includes a valve 31 which is connected to a tee 20 fed from a source M and heated by burners 27. The valve includes a tube 19 which is releasably secured to this tee 20 and a valve member 30 which by way of pins 36 is secured to a sleeve 32, the sleeve being coupled via a gimbal 55 to a lever 47 forked at 51. Valve member 30 has an intermediate cylindrical portion, a diverging portion and an outwardly flaring portion, the latter co-operating with the tube 19 to close the valve. The outer diameter of the cylindrical portion is smaller than the inner diameter of tube 19. Lever 47, which is pivoted at 48, is pivotally connected to the stem 66 of a piston and cylinder actuator 65 fed via port 69. Movement of lever 47 in the counterclockwise direction is limited by an adjustable stop 75. Figs. 7 and 8, not shown, depict a modified coupling between the cylinder actuator and the valve member.
