1353893 Baling apparatus PARK WEBB Ltd 19 April 1971 [22 Jan 1970] 3144/70 Heading B5F [Also in Division B2] Waste paper, cardboard containers and the like are subjected to the action of a beating device before delivery to a stationary baling machine, the beating device comprising sets of flails 14 spaced transversely of the conveyer and rotated past a feed rotor assembly 52 also rotated about an axis transverse the conveyer and peceiving the material therefrom. Each set of flails comprises two diametrically spaced flails pivotally mounted on shafts 38, 40 extending through transversely spaced discs 32 mounted on a driven shaft 30; the flails may be urged radially outwardly by coil springs extending between the shafts 38, 40 and shafts 100, 102 extending through the discs. The flails pass through a stripper plate assembly 122 which clears the treated material from the flails, such material then falling into a hopper 12 of a baling machine. The rotor assembly 52 consists of toothed discs 112, Fig. 3 spaced along driven shaft 114, and the assembly is located such that the flails pass between the toothed discs. Material is supplied to the conveyer 50 and is compressed by the conveyer 48 whose lower run is driven towards the beater device at the same speed as that of the upper run of the conveyer 50. The end 54 of the conveyer 48 is pivotally connected to arms extending radially from the shaft 30 and is adjustable about an arc 58, Fig. 2; its opposite end is supported by levers 62 extending from the frame of the lower conveyer which is pivotally adjustable about its front end.
