Abstract

1349069 Blowing lances CENTRO SPERIMENTALE METALLURGICO SpA 15 June 1971 [1 July 1970] 27910/71 Heading F4B A blowing lance, particularly for use in a converter, comprises a central passage 1 for refining gases leading to a set of nozzles 2, a coaxial duet 3 leading to nozzles 4 and coolant passages 7, 8. The passage 3 and nozzles 4 supply combustion air to the carbon monoxide given off during blowing, and are at least double in number to the refining and spaced from them by 0-30 times the diameter of the lance. The refining and combustion nozzles are both inclined to the lance axis at an angle between 10-60 degrees.
