Abstract
1,228,196. Substituted benzo-naphthyridones. INSTYTUT FARMACEUTYCZNY. 15 July, 1968 [13 July, 1967 (2)], No. 33644/68. Heading C2C. Novel N-substituted derivatives of a benzo- [b][1,8]-naphthyridone-5 have the general Formula (1) wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group or an alkyl group, R<SP>3</SP> represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and R<SP>4</SP> represents an alkyl, arylalkyl or aminoalkyl group, wherein one or both of the hydrogen atoms of the amino group are substituted with one or two alkyl groups respectively (the nitrogen atom of the aminoalkyl group may be a member of a heterocyclic ring), are prepared by condensing a benzo[b][1,8]-naphthyridone- 5 (10H) of the general Formula (2) with a compound of the general formula R<SP>4</SP>X, wherein X is halogen, or with salts thereof, and the benzo[b][1,8]-naphthyridone-5 (2) may be optionally prepared by cyclizing a 3-carboxy-2- anilinopyridine of the Formula (3) in polyphosphoric acid at a temperature of 100 -200‹ C. The above novel compounds of Formula 1 have a stimulant action on the central nervous system.
