[Also in Division A5] A medicinal inhaler adapter 10 for an aerosol dispensing container comprises a skirt portion 17 for fitting over the container, a valve stemreceiving recess 18 communicating through a delivery passage 11 with an expansion chamber 12 and a discharge orifice 13 formed in a mouthpiece 15, which is readily removable from the adapter for cleaning of orifice 13. Mouthpiece 15 may be attached to adapter 10 by screw threads 19, 20, or by bayonet or snap-on fittings. Sealing is effected by chamfered faces 32, 33, and an additional sealing rib may be provided, Fig. 4 (not shown). An O-ring seal may be used. One of the two air inlets 34, 35 in the mouthpiece, inlet 35 as shown, communicates with the atmosphere via clearance between skirt 17 and the container, double-start threads 19 being provided to ensure that one of the inlets is aligned with the skirt clearance when the mouthpiece is screwed home. External ribs are provided on the mouthpiece for finger engagement, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown). A cap 36 is provided.
