Abstract

1,211,268. Diving equipment. BIOENGIONICS Inc. 19 Dec., 1968, No. 60615/68. Heading B7U. Diving equipment comprises a rigid helmet 10, a source 34 of pressurized air connected by a first conduit to a transparent mark 14 and to ear cups 26 on the helmet and by a second conduit to a mouthpiece 56, valves controlling the flow in the conduits and discharge valves 18, 170 mounted on the mask and mouthpiece. The helmet is not water-tight and has a release valve 24. Mask 14 and ear cups 26 hinged on the helmet are water tight and are connected by hoses 36, 38 in the helmet coupling 30, and hose 32 to air tank 34. Mouthpiece 56 is connected by hose 64 to tank 34. Valves responsive to the external water pressure control the air flow into each ear cup. Mouthpiece 56 has a control valve (150, Fig. 3, not shown), a diaphragm (156) with a spring loaded button on one side exposed to the sea and a bracket (164) connected to a spring loaded valve (162) in the air supply inlet (162) to the mouthpiece. A compressed air cartridge (63) is positioned in the mouthpiece.
