Abstract
1,205,250. I.C. engine combustion chambers. TOYO KOGYO K.K. Oct.19, 1967 [Oct. 21, 1966], No.47725/67. Heading F1B. [Also in Division C7] A diesel engine pre-combustion chamber insert, such as shown in Fig.2, is made of a heat resistant alloy steel which consists of:- and the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities. The Nb is commercial niobium and may contain 0-10% Ta. All percents are by weight. The alloy may be cast and then be either (a) heat treated by soaking in air at 1100‹ C. for 2 hours and then at 750‹C. for 2 hours or (b) surface treated at 560‹C. for 2 hours by a Tufftride nitriding process. In a Tufftride process steel is dipped in a bath of 45% KCN, 47% KCNO and 8% Na 2 CO 3 at 520 to 570‹ C. (all percents being by weight).
