Abstract
1298163 Testing microwave equipment; microwave ovens INDUSTRIE A ZANUSSI SpA 23 Dec 1970 [17 Jan 1970] 61206/70 Headings H5H and H4L In a device for protection against radiation leakage in microwave generating apparatus, as described, for an oven, a radiation-responsive gas tube 16 is located in the area where radiation leakage can occur and is connected in series with a relay coil 19 controlling normally open contacts 26 in the energizing circuit of the microwave generator 4, a resistor 20 and a potentiometer 21. Potentiometer 21 controls a diode 22 in series with a further relay coil 25 operating normally closed contacts 27 in series with the contacts 26. The device is energized via a full wave rectifier 24 when push-button 23 is closed and the small current flowing through the tube 16 is then sufficient to energize relay 19 and close contacts 26. The resistance of the tube 16 remains relatively high so that diode 22 is cut off, relay 25 is not energized and contacts 27 remain closed. Should a radiation leak occur or the oven door be opened, the resistance of the tube 16 is decreased, diode 22 conducts and relay 25 is energized to open contacts 27. Relay 19 is released to open contacts 26 should the tube break. Oven construction.-Access to the cooking chamber 2, Fig. 2, is via an opening 5 each side of which carries a resilient blade 6, the blades being pressed against the oven wall when the door 7 is closed to provide sealing against radiation leakage. The antenna 3 of a microwave generator 4 is arranged to protrude into the chamber 2. The door is provided with a transparent central area 15 and may be locked in the open or shut position by notches 10, 11 respectively on the lever 12.
