Abstract

1320354 Safety device for gas burners SAUNIER DUVAL 23 Oct 1970 [24 Oct 1939] 50540/70 Heading F4T A gas burning appliance has a safety device comprising a first temperature-sensitive electrical contact 4, located to be heated and thereby opened or closed by combustion products diverted from a normal path to an outlet 1 of the appliance, and a normally closed second temperature-sensitive contact 5 adjacent a heating resistance 7 supplied with current when the first contact is opened or closed to cause the second contact 5 to be opened, thereby closing dcwn the appliance. In Fig. 1, resistance 7 is in parallel with contact 4 and when the latter opens current heats the resistance to open contact 6. In Fig. 2 (not shown), contact 4 and resistance 7 are in series so that closing of the contact causes the resistance to heat to open contact 6. Opening of contact 6 cuts the electric supply to electrical controls and/or pumps of the appliance. In Fig. 1, close down may occur before contact 6 opens, because of current supply to the appliance being reduced by having to flow through resistance 7.
