Abstract

1290669 Clamps SYDDAL ENG Ltd 23 Dec 1969 [17 Dec 1968] 59994/68 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] A pipe repair clamp adapted to encircle a pipe to be repaired comprises one or a plurality of straps, a lug 8 carried by each free end portion of the or each strap and means for drawing opposed lugs towards one another to tighten the clamp on the pipe, each lug 8 being secured to its strap by engagement of a hooked projection of the strap in an undercut recess 9 formed in the lug, and each lug being provided with an abutment member 13 projecting therefrom for engagement with a corresponding abutment member of the opposed lug to limit movement of the lugs towards each other on tightening. In the construction shown there are two straps 5 and four lugs 8 disposed in pairs and the tightening means consist of bolts 12 and nuts cooperating with the bolts; there being two bolts for each pair of lugs with two nuts. Each the two gaps provided by the lugs are covered by extension plates 5a held in place by a neoprene lining 6; the lining 6 for each strap is staggered so that the joints between the linings do not coincide with the gaps between the lugs or with the edges of the plates 5a. In a modification a single strap is used with a pair of lugs.
