Abstract

1,272,571. Mixing apparatus. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 18 April, 1969 [29 Jan., 1968], No. 4474/68. Heading B1C. [Also in Divisions A1-A3 and B8] Apparatus for delivering different particulate materials, e.g. seed and fertiliser simultaneously in predetermined proportions comprises a hopper provided with at least one partition 10 to form compartments 11, 12 and a single outlet at its lower end, two rollers 13, 14 rotatable in opposite senses located below the outlet to dispense the materials from the compartments as a mixture through the nip, and means for rotating the rollers (not shown). The relative proportions of the materials in the mixture may be adjusted by rotating screw 15 to raise or lower the partition. In modifications, one or both of the compartments may be provided with a plate having an aperture and either a reciprocatable apertured shutter or rotatable brush located above the aperture, Fig. 2 (not shown). A roller, which may be driven at a constant or adjustable speed relative to rollers 13, 14, may be arranged in one of the compartments, Fig. 3 (not shown). The roller may be dimpled. Rollers 13, 14 may have resilient surfaces and may be driven at various speeds.
