Abstract

1,252,781. Composition for replacing body fluids. STOKELY-VAN CAMP Inc. 16 Jan., 1969, No. 2641/69. Heading A5B. A composition for replacing lost body fluids comprises an aqueous solution (or a solid or liquid concentrate from which it can be made by dilution) containing; 16.5 to 26 meq Na<SP>+</SP>, 1.5 to 4.7 meq K<SP>+</SP>, 11.9 to 19.9 meq Cl<SP>-</SP>, 4.1 to 10.1 meq PO 4 <SP>---</SP> and 30 to 60 grams of glucose. The solution may be carbonated and may contain flavours and sweeteners. Typical salts which may be present to provide the above-mentioned ions are NaCl, NaH 2 PO 4 , KH 2 PO 4 , KCl and NaHCO 3 .
