Abstract
1,252,060. Rotary disc press. R. YORITOMI. 27 Oct., 1969, No. 52499/69. Heading BID. In a press wherein liquid is squeezed out of material which passes round an annular groove of V-shaped section and circumferentially varying width, between two rotating perforate discs 8, 9 and inner and outer walls 2, 1, the discs rotate about shafts 5, 6 which are pivoted together at 7 and whose outer ends are adjustable by screws 20 to vary the compression ratio between maximum and minimum width parts of the groove, the heads of screws 20 being resiliently loaded to allow the discs to be forced apart if the compression ratio is set too high. In Fig. 1 the screw heads are loaded by pistons 22 subjected to variable air or oil pressure (Fig. 2, not shown). In Fig. 4 resilient loading is determined by springs 43 which can be tightened using nuts 41. The plane wherein shafts 5, 6 are pivotable is inclined to the horizontal, and material is fed into the groove by hopper (31) and removed by a scraper (33) above the minimum width part of the groove.
